Hearing Scratches In The Walls? You May Have Mice

If you hear scratching in your walls, this is often due to mice. These small rodents can get into small areas and then come out at night to forage for food. You will likely find signs of these mice in other areas of your home if you do an inspection. Below are some places you should look, how to get them out, and how to prevent them from coming back.

Signs of Mice

Mice leave behind feces and urine everywhere they go. Look at the flooring around where food is located. Look inside drawers as they can also get in these. If you have a room where you store pet food, mice often chew through it to get access to dog or cat food. The holes are large enough for you to easily see them.

They will get inside cabinets where food is stored. If you have anything in cardboard boxes, such as pasta, cereals, etc. remove these and look for holes. Mice can easily chew through just about anything with their teeth. Look for small pellets and yellowed areas, as this is the feces and urine.

Get Mice Out

Once you determine that you have mice in your home, there are many ways to get them out. Purchase mouse traps at a home improvement store, pet store, etc. Snap traps are the least expensive and work well. Place the traps in areas where you see feces and urine. Put bait on the trap, such as peanut butter, cheese, or anything that sticks to the trap that is sweet. There are other mouse traps, such as electric traps that zap the mice when they enter them, as well as catch-and-release traps.

A pest control company can help you with the traps. They use their own traps and know where to place them.

Prevent Mice

To prevent mice from coming back the main thing is to close up all entry points.  Look in rooms where you see mice for any type of opening and close it up with caulk or another way.

The best thing you can do is contact a pest control company. They can help you get the mice out, as well as prevent them from coming back. One way they do this is to place poison in the crawl space. This is a block that mice like to eat. This kills them before they enter your home.

The pest control company can give you many tips to keep mice away. For more information, contact a pest control company, such as Bug Blasters.
